2007 HVOC October Trial

We had a nice Trial again this year. Two full days of Obedience and Rally Trials, Huge Raffle (run by Jen this year - LOTS of great baskets), and - of course - the food. I helped out with the Hospitality team again this year.

We do two free breakfasts, two lunches and a fantastic "Judge's Dinner". HVOC is known for having good food at its events and whenever we help out at other clubs events. But this is the big-daddy for the food. We go all out.

Breakfast - (did I mention it is free...) Pancakes, hot syrup, eggs to order, coffee and other drinks. All you can eat. (and on Sunday we have a extra goodies to add in that are left over from the Saturday dinner).

Lunch - Chicken sandwich, Bratwurst sandwich (with grilled veggies of course), hamburger, salad and goodies - and a vegetarian option that always ends up being popular and a lot of non-vegetarians order it on the fly. This year we did panini grilled cheese, but this was no ordinary grilled cheese. We added olive oil, a creamy salad dressing, and grilled veggies. Sunday we went wild and added tri-tip and chicken and other types of cheese for our own lunches!

And the Judge's Dinner. Well, let's just say that we start the smokers mid-morning. Smokers - what more do you need to know?
What goes in there the smokers? A lot of Tri-Tip and a lot of lightly marinated salmon.

And for those veggie folks we have Eggplant Parmesan. Add to that salads, cheese and crackers appetizers, beer, wine, soda and desserts -- that's a nice dinner. And to make it even better -- the food is really good. How can you go wrong with smoked salmon and Tri-Tip?!?!

It's a great job for the weekend (well, the hours suck...) - people are always smiling when the leave and complimenting us on all the great food, and we get to have a little fun while we are at it. We get our own little area away from the judging rings, so it is a little getaway for folks to take a break - and we get to live in there in our own little space for 2 1/2 days. We make the best of it and have a good time.

After settin gup on Friday we let the hounds out to play while we have dinner.

We gathered under the low pop-up to save heat.
