SAN MARCOS — Cal State San Marcos will sponsor a free recycling event for electronic waste from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 7.
Acceptable items include computer monitors, cell phones, camcorders and fax machines. Prohibited items include household appliances and hazardous waste.
Organizers said personal data on computers will be destroyed.
The e-waste collection will take place in Parking Lot B at the university, 333 S. Twin Oaks Valley Road.

Looks like they will wipe your hard drive clean too. But I would suggest doing that yourself just to be sure.
